The good of it

Hey! The next time you hear someone say breast cancer is cured after five years, go ahead and punch them in the face for me, would ya? After five years, three months and two weeks, I’ve been diagnosed with a recurrence in my lymph nodes. First, the bad news: five years ago, I didn’t have lymph node involvement. Having lymph node involvement now means the disease has progressed. Having cancer show up after complete removal...

Know thyself & hire good doctors

Probably some of the weirdest and most confusing breast cancer studies of recent years are the findings that breast self-exams are not as beneficial as once believed. This is what 1/4-million dollar boobs look like?

The chest isn’t too pretty right now and Rosie ain’t feeling so great. Not just about the unpretty chest, but today, for some reason, I’m in more pain than yesterday. Just a bump in the road, I think. I didn’t “overdo” it over the weekend or anything. I’ve had more rest than I can stand, except I’m too tired to do anything about it! Most days, though, I’m feeling better than the...

Surgery Tuesday

Hi, all. My surgery will be Tuesday (tomorrow). I have to be at the plastic surgeon’s office at 8 a.m. to be marked. Then, check-in is at St. Vincent’s at 10:15 a.m. Surgery is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. I should be done around 3 p.m. And I will be in recovery for a few hours after that. My friend Elaine will have my phone – at least during surgery. I’ll probably have her shut it down for me after she leaves,...
